Flor de Manita, Devils Hand has been used in traditional Mexican medicine for several centuries. It is used to treat nervousness, epilepsy, headaches, insomnia, depression, dizziness, as anodyne (against pain), inflammation, ulcers, inflammation of the eyes, feet and as a stimulant for heart problems.

It also has potential use in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, including diarrhea, dysentery; because they have antibacterial and anti-protozoal properties.
