Guásima, guazima (Guazuma ulmifolia), guacima, Cuaulote

Guásima, also called Cuaulote, Guazuma ulmifolia, caulote or majaua, is a common medicinal plant in Central and South American countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, it is used to treat various health problems such as abdominal pain, colic, and hair loss.

Guasima is an antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, in addition to being analgesic, hypoglycemic, hypotensive, antispasmodic, uterotonic and neuroprotective.

In Mexico this plant is popularly used to complement the medical treatment of tdiabetes type 2 . Some studies show that guasima stimulates the absorption of glucose reducing its concentration in the blood.
